MasterCard Fraud Alert
Posted February 9, 2009
PenFinancial Credit Union and our credit card provider CUETS Financial, a division of MBNA Canada, have verified that a credit card processor in the U.S. has been the victim of a security breach within its processing system. The information involved in this compromise is specific to card numbers and expiration dates and does not contain personal information.
CUETS Financial is in the process of contacting any PenFinancial Credit Union Members who may be affected.
The Fraud and Security Department of CUETS Financial actively monitors accounts 24 hours a day and will contact you if any suspicious activity is identified on your MasterCard account. If it is necessary to cancel your card a new one will be issued. Under MasterCard’s Zero Liability rules you should not be liable for any unauthorized transactions made on your account.
Early detection of a fraud is very important. Please monitor your account using both your monthly MasterCard statement and PenFinancial Credit Union’s online banking service. If you see a purchase you do not recognize, contact CUETS Financial at 1-800-561-7849.
