Our truly local pledge...

Our Truly Local Commitment is the heart and soul of PenFi's philosophy, where we believe the prosperity of our Members and our community go hand in hand. We are always looking to use business as a force for good. To work together. To strengthen communities. As a values-driven financial co-operative, we work to help our Members and communities thrive.

Together we get what we give.

By giving back 10% of our pre-tax profits through our TLC investment program, PenFinancial is making a Truly Local Commitment to help improve lives and strengthen communities. Through collaborative work with local charities and not-for-profits, we're addressing challenges like poverty, affordable housing and mental health issues.

Help end poverty feet first

More than 75,000 people in Niagara live on or below the poverty line. More than a third of those people are children. Our partner, Socks for Change, provides warm, quality wool socks and winter accessories to those in need in Niagara and Haldimand.

Annually, the goal is to raise enough donations to purchase 35,000 pairs of socks for those in need.

A Living Wage is our minimum wage.

At PenFinancial, a living wage is our minimum wage. We’re proud to pay all of our employees a living wage, which is set and reviewed annually by the Ontario Living Wage Network. This is just another way we help our 100 truly local employees and their communities thrive.  While we're the only financial institution in Niagara to achieve this, we are part of a growing list of businesses in the region who have become living wage employers.

The Truly Local Community Room

Giving back to the communities we serve is important to us – and that extends beyond banking. So, when we built our Fourth Avenue Branch in St. Catharines, we saw it as an opportunity create the Truly Local Community Room. It’s a welcoming meeting space that not-for-profit organizations and community groups from throughout Niagara Region and Haldimand County can use at no cost.
