Email Collection and Use Statement

Privacy and security of your information and data is of the utmost importance to PenFinancial Credit Union. The information you provide to PenFinancial is for your banking and Membership purposes only. Your information will remain confidential and will not be sold to third parties.

From time to time, PenFinancial Credit Union sends emails to our Members, and those who have registered for our mailing lists. These emails are a communication and information tool that could include products and promotional rates, as well as updates about the goings-on of our credit union. We believe this to be the most effective way to reach most of our Members, and is a preferred means of communication by many.

Implied and Expressed Consent

As a Member of PenFinancial Credit Union,  when you provide us with your email address we will occasionally contact you to advise you of new and existing products and services that we believe may be of interest to you.

In compliance with CASL (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation), the existing business relationship with our Members grants "implied consent" for these types of email messages. As implied consent extends for two years from the date of the most recent business transaction, PenFinancial Credit Union removes all past Members with implied consent from our mailing lists two years after their Membership ceases.

PenFinancial Credit Union will additionally ask Members, and non-Members or community partners, for "express consent" at certain points of contact, such as contact form completion and event registration. To grant express consent we will ask for a positive and explicit indication that you would like to receive email communications from PenFinancial Credit Union. Express consent does not expire and allows us to continue to send you promotional emails from time to time, unless you choose to unsubscribe from the mailing list.

CASL Compliance

All email communications sent by PenFinancial Credit Union will be compliant with Canada's Anti-Spam Law ("CASL"). Canada's Anti-Spam legislation covers many types of electronic communications, including how Commercial Electronic Messages (CEMs) may be sent and received in Canada. CASL requires that all electronic messages are sent with the consent of the recipient, clearly identify the sender, and include an unsubscribe mechanism.

Further details about CASL are available at fightspam.gc.ca.

Identification

All email messages sent by PenFinancial Credit Union will clearly identify our business name, physical mailing address and contact information.

Subscriptions and Email Preferences

PenFinancial Credit Union honours the requests of recipients of our email messages. Each email message sent by PenFinancial Credit Union will include a link to a webpage to manage your email preferences or unsubscribe from all future mailings. If you receive a newsletter or email and decide you would no longer like to receive that type of message, simply click the Manage Email Preferences or Unsubscribe link in the footer of the email.

Additionally, Members have the option to manage their email preferences at any time through the following methods:

  • Send us an email at emailus@penfinancial.com
  • Call us at 1-866-272-4275
  • Visit your nearest PenFinancial Credit Union branch

Members who unsubscribe from our promotional email list will still receive emails when a transaction has occurred or is required; such as transactional receipts or documentation, inquiry responses when sent by email, and monthly statements. This type of communication is not considered a Commercial Electronic Message.
