2023 was jam-packed with community events, fundraisers, concerts, art displays, runs, bike rides… and more! We had a blast helping to improve lives and strengthen communities with so many other great partners and non-profits in Niagara and Haldimand.
It was also a special year for us since we launched our first ever PenFinancial Truly Local Grant Program, with $25,000 in funding to support local non-profit organizations in our communities.

Volunteer hours served in the Niagara & Haldimand regions. Every PenFi employee is encouraged to complete at least one volunteer activity in their community as part of their Truly Local Commitment goal.

Our employees are the best, and we’re so proud to shine a light on this year’s Truly Local Ambassador Award winner, Jodie Drennan.
Jodie is our Human Resources Generalist and volunteers her time with Wellspring Niagara. She began volunteering with this incredible organization in 2018 after the passing of her husband, Bill. Since then, she’s raised over $25,000 for Wellspring and volunteers weekly as a Peer Support Volunteer. In recognition of her community involvement, we made a $2,000 donation to Wellspring on Jodie’s behalf. Congratulations Jodie, and thanks for being a Truly Local Ambassador!
It’s an honour to recognize Community Crew, one of our staff members’ favourite community organizations. In 2023, we raised over $16,000 (that’s almost 8,000 lunches!) for CC’s school lunch program, and funded a new commercial refrigerator to store all the food!
Community Crew provides 4,500 healthy lunches each week to children in 30 different schools throughout the Niagara Region. Their goal is to ensure every child has access to quality food every day. To learn more or get involved with ‘the Crew’, check out their website.
In addition to investing a portion of our profits back into the community, we’re committed to sustainability, too! We proudly choose 100% renewable energy for all of our locations through our partnership with Bullfrog Power.
We also care about our people. We are proud to be the first financial institution in Niagara to be recognized as a Living Wage Employer by the Ontario Living Wage Network.
And last but not least, we’re proud to be B Corp certified. This means we demonstrate high social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency to all stakeholders.
