PenFinancial continues to prioritize the personal safety of our Members and our employees by closely adhering to the health and safety guidelines provided by our Government leaders.  This ensures that we can provide a safe environment in which to conduct business, for all of us.  We have also continued to remain available to support our Members throughout the pandemic – whether that be in person, digitally, or virtually. 

We are continuing to monitor the evolving situation, and making adjustments along the way which we’ll share with you here.

Branch hours have returned to normal.

As restrictions continue to ease, we have returned to regular business hours. We continue to adhere to all protocols and our Members are still required to wear masks at all locations.


UPDATE: APRIL 22, 2021

Temporary adjustments to branch hours starting April 26

In an effort to continue to support our frontline staff during the emergency stay-at-home orders, we are temporarily reducing the hours our branches are open to members as follows:

  • Monday to Thursday: 10 am-4pm
  • Friday: 10 am-6pm
  • Saturday: closed

This adjustment is in no way a cost-cutting measure but rather a direct response to the alarmingly high incidence rate of COVID-19 infections in our region and provincial stay-at-home orders.  We are demonstrating our leadership in our community by doing our part to support the emergency stay-at-home orders. 

As employers, this means prioritizing the health and well-being of our staff by limiting their risk of exposure, combined with strict adherence to all public health protocols, which includes ensuring all staff have, and use, the required PPE.

As members, we respectfully ask you do your part by adhering to the stay-at-home orders and ask that you consider using Online Banking, Mobile App, ATMs or telephone banking for your day-to-day banking needs. We require all visitors to our branches to wear a face covering.  If you are medically-exempt, or for any reason are unable to wear a mask, you must call us prior to entering the branch and we will make alternative arrangements to support you remotely.

We appreciate this is a very trying time for everyone but we sincerely appreciate your part in keeping everyone safe.

Staying home means saving lives.

With the stay-at-home orders announced for Ontario, we ask that you limit in-branch visits to essential business only. 

Where possible we request that you limit in-branch visits for day-to-day banking transactions and encourage you to use ATMs, Online Banking or our Mobile App wherever possible.  We are also always available to support you by phone or virtually.  

If you must visit a branch in-person, please help us help you by:

  • Wearing a face covering
  • Sanitizing your hands
  • Respecting social distancing

Masks are mandatory in all PenFinancial Branches

When visiting a branch, we remind you that in accordance with by-laws passed by Niagara Region and Haldimand County, Members entering any PenFinancial branch will be required to wear a face mask or face covering.  Full details of the by-laws can be found here:

Interac Flash limits have increased

To make contactless payments even more convenient, Interac Flash tap limits have increased.  As a PenFi Member you can now use your debit card to make purchases of up to $250 per tap transaction to a cumulative amount of $400 without needing to re-enter your PIN.  To activate this change, you simply need to complete three consecutive chip transactions.   There is no time limit on completing these transactions, however they must be consecutive and not include any tap transactions in between. These can be made at an ATM or at point of sale.
